Pink Orchids

Lily Pad

This lily pad was growing peacefully in the center of a gentle bubbling brook in Maui. In the foreground, and under water, you can see a Japanese Carp. 1/400 sec at f/14, ISO 1000, 200mm

White Orchid

This is one of my favorite shots from this trip. Maui again, a white orchid with the remnants of morning dew. I shot this with high zoom and open to achieve the soft background with a very narrow depth of field. 1/320 sec at f/5.6, ISO 100, 200mm

Sunflower

This sunflower, grown in our garden was about 1 foot in diameter. I captured this image with the sun back and to the right with a fill flash. The resulting washed out leaves with the bold yellow of the flower created a stunning look. 1/60 sec at f/14, ISO 100, 46mm

Longleaf Speedwell Field

I am not a botanist (my Grandmother was), but believe I have this species right...There was a gentle breeze which accentuated the sharp focus in the center of the image and contrasted the soft focus elsewhere. 1/250 sec at f/5.6, ISO 640, 200mm

Every year in Mt. Vernon, Washington is the annual Tulip festival. As in other areas where tulips grow, this attracts tourists from a wide area. Growing in contrasting rows, the tulips mesmerize you as you walk on by. This is an HDR of 3 images. f/9.0, ISO 400, 82mm

Taken with a superzoom handheld, and with the aperture wide open, this shallow depth of field was achieved. The sharp focus of these 4 or 5 tulips is contrast by a soft bokeh in the background. Also an HDR. f/5.6, ISO 400, 200mm

Old Lens, New Camera
